Some reflections on the theme of work, in view of the National Democratic Party May 21 to 22.
Italy is a democratic republic, founded on work. So begins the most important document of the Italian republic, our Constitution.
These words are the cornerstone upon which a vision of society that places the work in the middle of building a democratic republic.
The work is not intended here only as a means of personal enrichment, but as an ontological basis of the state and collective welfare.
The Constitution recognizes, maintain and direct the value, and in particular:
• The economic value (the work intended as a means of satisfaction of human needs) in the articles. 35 to 40;
• The social value (the work intended as a framework within which to contribute to the common good and gain social recognition) in Article 4 which stipulates the right and duty to work;
• The personal value (defined as space for the development of individual talent and personal fulfillment) more choices in Article 4 which protects the worker and his elevation and professional training.
E 'through the work that may constitute the social contract between state and citizens, and social welfare becomes a direct consequence of the interaction between good governance and economic development of the whole country.
The work of the constitution is seen as an instrument for the realization of the personality, and this implies that it is due to every citizen to be guaranteed equal opportunities for achievement based on their abilities and not because of social positions acquired without merit, thus constituting a privilege.
This work takes the form of a right of all citizens a right to give effect to promote conditions. But work is also a duty that every citizen has a duty to "perform according to their ability and individual choice, activity or function that contributes to the material or spiritual progress of society" (Article 4).
The work thus has a dual significance, individual and collective, and the relationship between these two dimensions that characterize the company: the individual realizes his size through civic work, which becomes a means of empowerment and social development made possible by removal of those constraints (of wealth, social class, caste) that deny equal opportunities to all citizens.
Today we witness a loss of work ethic that is no longer a factor of identity and socialization, but a time fraught with difficulties and uncertainties where we often feel alone in facing the increasingly rapid and convulsive change imposed by the economic system called "globalization."
The problem is then to find that way and rediscover the value of the commitment that the work is again a primary source of growth for the people, a positive dimension that produces individual wealth and to build a new social participation and promote a true experience active citizenship.

The contract Work: Rights for All, for anyone precarious
Undoubtedly the excessive segmentation of the labor market, which sees a plethora of types of contracts, is an anomaly that created and creates entirely unjustified unequal treatment between workers who also perform similar tasks. Those forms of work that needed to be "flexible", justified on purely temporal and seasonal, have become forms of precarious stability, thanks to the recurrence of contracts that take place for months and years without ever becoming permanent contracts. The result is the abnormal growth of "atypical" contracts that have strongly biased the Italian labor market and weakened the social security system.
